سی اس اس هک برای زمانی کاربرد دارد که شما صفحه وب سایتی ایجاد می کنید و متوجه می شوید که در هر مرورگر به یک شیوه نمایش داده می شود این مشکلی است که طراحان وب سایت عموما در گیر آن هستند برای این کار کافیست که مشخص نمایید کد css شما در هر مرورگر چگونه عمل نماید به طور مثال مشخص می کنید در IE6 بک گراند مشکی و در IE7 f بک گراند سایت آبی باشد. کد های هک زیر فقط برای شناسایی مرورگر اینترنت اکسپلورر کارایی دارد
